The Australian State Truffle Enterprise, known by its acronym T.A.S.T.E., is a co-venture between a leading scientific company in the United Kingdom and an Australian agri-business, with the aim of establishing enterprises to grow the truffle in Australia.

Our objective is to combine the advanced scientific knowledge needed to grow
black truffles and other specimens sucessfully with the local business acumen needed to establish an Australian enterprise that offers existing landowners an opportunity to diversify into a low risk/high return agri-business.

Recently there has been much increased interest in harvesting the truffle here in Australia.
Exciting News
A Western Australian venture had its 1st harvest in 2004, and in 2005
they unearthed a 1kg truffle that is potentially the largest ever
harvested in the southern hemisphere. Production of the truffle is
expanding into the colder regions of Victoria and New South Wales.
